Out Dancing Ballroom brings the delights of ballroom to the LGBT community. We are a group of men and women who enjoy ballroom dancing and encourage other lesbians and gay men to take up the activity. We perform in same-sex couples. We are the only same-sex ballroom dance troupe in the world.

Formed in January 2001 in Los Angeles and Long Beach, our membership has grown to 15 men and women. About half of the group is composed of ex-professional dancers and teachers, while the other half are enthusiastic and well-trained amateurs. It takes about 3 months to choreograph and rehearse a number to the point where it can be performed. We now have 8 numbers in our repertoire, each with its own costuming— West Coast Swing (hot, sassy, and sexy), Waltz (1940s smooth and debonair with top hats, tails, and canes), Cha Cha (Latin heat and style with Calypso shirts), Tango (elegant and formal), East Coast Swing with Lindy Hop (all American fun and a show stopper), Hustle (a homage to the 1970s disco), Merengue (to the gay national Latin anthem sung by Thalia—A quien le importa), and our All American Country (with a wonderful mix of 2-Step, Shadow, Square Dancing, and of line-dancing). .

We have been well received at gay pride festivals and other LGBT events.
